M-DISC
There are many layers to long term digital storage. The two main parts are what physical format the information is stored on and the location the physical formats are kept.
You should always keep multiple backups of memories you don’t want to lose. These backups should be stored in different locations for maximum protection. We suggest at least one of these locations is immune to fire and water damage.

Methods of storage differ in cost and how long they can remain accessible. The following table shows various methods used today.
Media | Longevity | Cost |
DVD/Blu-ray | 10-20 Years | Low |
USB Drive/SD | 5-10 Years | Low |
Hard Drive | 5-15 Years | Mid |
Cloud Storage | 20+ Years | High |
M-DISC | 100+ Years | Low |
Cloud storage is the only method that is not a physical type of media in your possession. Your information is stored at large data centers that guarantee its safekeeping. The main drawbacks with cloud based storage are ongoing fees and the risk of hacking.
M-DISC storage is the best way to provide long term storage of your important memories at the lowest cost. M-DISC can be accessed with any Blu-Ray player on the market today. It is made of inherently hard materials that can withstand the test of time. Surpassing ISO/IEC 16963 standards, M-DISC can possibly last upwards of 1000 years. There is no other storage method today that comes close to the M-DISC standard.
